2022 Qatar World Cup
The qualification for the 2020 World Cup is already ongoing in both Asia and Africa. As for the other continents, the qualification is yet to begin. As for CONCACAF, the typical hexagonal tournament may not be possible this time. Given the changes in the timelines due to the Coronavirus pandemic, it may be more practical to have a group format instead. There will be more FIFA windows for both men’s and women’s soccer over the following year. Something which, of course, every sportsbook pay per head will be offering odds on.
The decision on allowing a change on the format, which is the six-team round-robin, the FIFA Council will be decide on the qualifying process for CONCACAF. For now, certain tournaments, such as the 2020 Under-20s Women’s World Cup tournament will not happen this August in Costa Rica and Panama. This event may be postponed to early 2021. But this may change, depending on the current conditions of the pandemic. As always, the health and safety of athletes and staff are the top priority during these times.
